SMET Model Book Launch

From Thursday 11th July 2019 to Friday 12th July 2019, the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), the Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA), the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly organised a Roundtable Discus-sion for Religious Leaders and the Launch of the book “Social Market Economy as a Gateway to Industrialization”.

It was organised by CETA and KAS aiming at mobilising understanding and discussion of opportunities as well as challenges for Tanzania's economy. The Symposia (volume 17) was attenden by university/college students and secondary school students in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Mwanza.

On Wednesday 31st October 2018 the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized the second book review meeting on the subject of ”The Rights of Muslim Women according to Qur’an” in Stone Town, Unguja. The participants discussed the second edition of the book „Kitabu Cha Haki Za Mwanamke wa Kiislamu kwa Mujibu wa Qur’an”.

On Wednesday 24th October 2018 and Thursday 25th October 2018, female members of the Association of Muslim Women (JUWAKITA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly convened a workshop on “The Rights of Muslim Women in Tanzania” in Dar es Salaam. The leadership training viewed the challenges and opportunities of Muslim women in the Tanzanian society according to Qur’an and Sunnah.

This leadership training viewed the role of women in the family, community and church.

Workshop with ZAFELA on Unguja

On Tuesday, 31st of July 2018, the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly convened a workshop on “Muslim Women’s Rights According to the Qur’an” on Unguja, the main island of Zanzibar. Women’s rights from an Islamic perspective were discussed by reviewing the book “Kitabu Cha Haki Za Mwanamke wa Kiislamu kwa Mujibu wa Qur’an” (Muslim Women’s Rights Accordings to the Qur’an) published by KAS in 2007.

Islamic Economic System vis-a-vis Social Market Economy

Book Review

On Monday, 23rd of July 2018, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Tanzania Quran Teachers Organization (JUWAQUTA) jointly convened a discussion on the Islamic Economic System vis-à-vis Social Market Economy. The aim was to discuss the second version of the Islamic book which gives insights into the economic system according to the Islamic teachings. Participants also discussed about the Social Market Economy by using the example of Germany. Leaders of different Islamic organizations and institutions as well as experts in Islamic economy were part of the event in Dar es Salaam.

EU Project for Fighting Corruption in Tanzania

Field Visit in the Project Region Pwani

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a training to empower local structures to increase accountability and improve their fight against corruption in the Pwani Region as part of the project ‘United for Our Rights’. This project is co-funded by the European Union and implemented together with the two NGOs ‘Civic Education Teachers’ Association’ (CETA) and ‘Actions for Democracy and Local Governance’ (ADLG) for 30 months in seven regions in Tanzania.

The event took place in Dodoma.

On Thursday, 19th of April 2018, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) jointly convened a workshop on "Good Governance and the Role of Civil Society Organizations" on Zanzibar's main island Unguja. The event focused on islamic and secular law as legal framework for good governance on Zanzibar and draw attention to implications for civil society.
