EU Project for Fighting Corruption in Tanzania

Field Visit in the Project Region Pwani

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a training to empower local structures to increase accountability and improve their fight against corruption in the Pwani Region as part of the project ‘United for Our Rights’. This project is co-funded by the European Union and implemented together with the two NGOs ‘Civic Education Teachers’ Association’ (CETA) and ‘Actions for Democracy and Local Governance’ (ADLG) for 30 months in seven regions in Tanzania.

On Thursday, 19th of April 2018, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) jointly convened a workshop on "Good Governance and the Role of Civil Society Organizations" on Zanzibar's main island Unguja. The event focused on islamic and secular law as legal framework for good governance on Zanzibar and draw attention to implications for civil society.

Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy

On the 23rd and 24th of March 2018, the Civic Education Teachers’ Association (CETA) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftug (KAS) organized a joint symposium in Dar es Salaam on the topic “Economic Order in Tanzania: Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy”. More than 180 university students on the first day and more than 200 secondary school students on the second day attended the event and discussed economic perspectives for Tanzania.

Discussion about current developments in Tanzania

On 17th of February 2018, the Civic Education Teachers' Association (CETA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly convened a teachers’ workshop in Morogoro on current education sector reforms, their challenges and possible implications on teaching.Both organizers and participants evaluated the workshop positively in the aftermath. Workshops and seminars like these are regarded to be important tools to further lead a discussion amongst teachers.

On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of January 2018, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Civic Education Teachers’ Association (CETA) organized a symposium in Mwanza on the topic “Economic Order in Tanzania: Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy”. More than five hundred students ― from secondary schools on the first day and from universities on the second day ― attended the event.

In Defense of Constitutional and Legal Rights: A Case of Zanzibar Women and Youth

On Sunday, 10th of December 2017, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) jointly convened a workshop on constitutional and legal rights focusing on women and youth on Pemba island which belongs to the Zanzibar archipelago. More than 20 people took part in the event.

Leadership Training in Mtwara

On the 2nd and the 3rd of December 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Christian Women’s Association “Wanawake Wakatoliki wa Tanzania” (WAWATA) of the diocese Mtwara jointly convened a workshop on the “Role and Responsibilities of Christian Women for Peace Building and Development”. The event took place at the Masista Secondary School in Mtwara. More than 60 people took part.

On Saturday, December 2nd, the Association of Quran Teachers in Tanzania (JUWAQUTA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a workshop for the Mtwara JUWAQUTA Regional Leadership under the motto “Tolerance and Conflict Resolution”. The event took place at the VETA Hall in Mtwara.

First meeting of the Council of Religious Leaders

On the 25th of November 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Tanzania organized a meeting together with the Inter-Religious Council for Peace Tanzania (IRCPT) at the Golden Tulip City Center Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The event marked the first meeting of the Council of Religious Leaders of the IRCPT one year after signing a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between religious institutions of the United Republic of Tanzania and the IRCPT on cooperation to strengthen peace.
