KAS Tanzania supports training for UN Peacekeepers

Rule of Law Training

From 26th October to 1st November, the German Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF), in collaboration with the East Africa Law Society (EFSA), the Criminal Law and Judicial Advisory Service (CLJAS), the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) and the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) organized a Rule of Law training for UN peacekeeping Operations in Dar es Salaam. The Tanzanian country office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) supported the initiative.

Symposium on the topic of "Sustainable Use of Natural Resources"

Gold Mining in the Lake Zone

About 300 students from various faculties of the Catholic Saint Augustine University Mwanza (SAUT) took part at a Symposium on "Sustainable Use of Natural Resources – Gold Mining in the Lake Zone" at the 24th of October 2014. The symposium was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Tanzania (KAS) together with the Civic Education Teachers' Association (CETA). The occasion for the event was the large gold deposits in Tanzania at Lake Victoria and the associated social, economic and environmental issues.

On 16th of October 2014 the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Tanzania and their longtime partner, the Association of Quran School Teachers (JUWAQUTA) organized a workshop in Morogoro to develop strategies to strengthen the internal structures of JUWAQUTA.

Symposium on local government elections for students of secondary schools and universities

On 3rd of October 2014, the Civic Educations Teachers' Association (CETA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Tanzania (KAS) jointly hosted a "Students Symposium on Local Government Elections" in the auditorium of the National Museum in Dar es Salaam. The occasion was the upcoming nationwide local government elections on 14th of December 2014 and the voter registration process for the National Elections in 2015.

MP Charles Huber for talks in Tanzania

From 13 to 17 September, German MP Charles M. Huber visited Tanzania in the frame of a dialogue program. The visit took place on the occasion of the National Party Convention of CHADEMA (Party for Democracy and Progress). In addition, MP Huber held talks with the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mohamed G. Bilal and representatives of Tanzanian civil society.

Perspectives of the Young Generation in Tanzania and Germany

On the 1st of August, 2014 KAS invited Tanzanian students of the exchange programme PAMOJA to a discussion roundtable on the topic “Social Market Economy, Youth Employment and Social Security" in Dar es Salaam. The discussion roundtable took place only a few days before the departure of a group of Tanzanian students to Germany and aimed at familiarizing Tanzanian PAMOJA students with the principles of a social market economy as to provide them with the basic knowledge that enables them to gain deep and well-founded insights into the German economic and social system during their stay.

Optimization of Websites and the Use of Social Media in Political Communication

Workshop mit CHADEMA

On the 11th and 12th of July, KAS Tanzania and the KAS Regional Media Programme invited to a Media Workshop and therefore 30 young politicians of KAS’ partner party CHADEMA from Dar es Salaam and the ten regions as established by CHADEMA, gathered in Dar es Salaam. The participants thus acquired new knowledge about the effective use of modern internet tools for political communication under the instructions of Christian Echle, the director of the KAS Media Programme in South Africa.

Katiba Moja kwa Watanzania Wote - Pamoja Tutafika!

On 16th April, students from all over Tanzania followed the invitation by the Tanzania Students Networking Programme (TSNP) to a workshop on the constitutional reform process in Tanzania. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Tanzania supported the event in the frame of her series "Katiba Moja kwa Watanzania Wote - Pamoja Tutafika!".
