Am 9. April veranstaltete die KAS Bangkok in Kooperation mit dem KAS Regionalprogramm Politikdialog Asien und ISIS ein internationales Seminar mit dem Titel “New Security Trends in Southeast Asia and Europe”. An dem Seminar nahmen führende Sicherheitsexperten aus Deutschland, Singapur, Thailand und Vietnam teil, um gemeinsam die sicherheitspolitischen Herausforderungen der Gegenwart und Zukunft zu analysieren. Diskutiert wurden dabei u. a. das Problem der so genannten „failed States“, der wachsende Einfluss nichtstaatlicher Akteure, sei es nun Cyberkriminalität oder islamistischer Terrorismus, die Problematik der nuklearen Proliferation sowie die Frage der Energiesicherheit. Besondere Beachtung kam auch der künftigen Rolle Chinas in der regionalen und globalen Sicherheitsordnung bei.
