“Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Life”


Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Turkey organized the “Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Life” event focusing on digitalization and innovation, in cooperation with Bilkent University and Berlin Technical University, between 9-12 June 2022 in Izmir. Politicians, professors, and young researchers who are experts in the relevant field participated in the event, which was held for the third time this year. Participants from DAI-Labor within Berlin Technical University and young reasearchers from Bilkent University, Prof. Dr. h.c. Şahin Albayrak from Berlin Technical University, Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Deputy Ziya Altunyaldız, Former Member of the German Federal Assembly (CDU/CSU) Dr. Andreas Nick, Dr. Dr. Lutz Peschke from Bilkent University shared their views. The growing interest of young people in environmental issues provides a great advantage in combining sustainability and digitalization processes, so the importance of building cooperation at the university and international level was emphasized at the conference. In this event, KAS Turkey brings together young researchers and experts from different disciplines to discuss the effects of digital culture and artificial intelligence on society. Collaboration opportunities and new potential research topics for sustainability, digitalization and smart technologies were discussed with participants from two important universities that shape future generations. Particularly, the importance of digitalization in health and welfare issues, the potentials of sustainability in cities and countries, the place of innovation and infrastructure in digitalization and sustainability are focused on. The event reflected that the exchange of innovative ideas at the international level could bring along important technological developments for Germany and Turkey and lead to innovative research. With the importance of following the development and technology in the globalizing world, the benefit of organizing the event in the future years has been revealed. With this aim, it is aimed to ensure the continuity of the conference.
