In context of the event thirty Turkish and German decision makers from politics, economy and science met. Among them were Thomas Bareiß (CDU, Parliamentary Secretary of the German Ministry of Economy and Energy) and Ziya Altunyaldız (AK Party, Chair of the Turkish Parliamentary Committee for Industry, Trade, Energy, natural Resources, Information and Technology) as political ambassadors of their countries. The two mottos of the dialogue were “Customs Union 2.0: Privileged Partnership Reloaded” and “Turkish Economy - A New Business Model”. In intensive discussions the participants exchanged thoughts and ideas about the economic cooperation between Turkey and Germany. Referents and Commentators discussed intensively about topics as the state of the Turkish economy as well as necessary transformation processes, the options for the relations of the EU and Turkey, the political Situation, geostrategic challenges, the problem of youth unemployment and the education system.
In relation to the Turkish economy the participants identified the solution to problems like strategic development, new business models, digitalization and education as important themes for the further development of the Turkish economy. Potential Investors also formulated expectations like reliability, stability and local support. For future oriented and successful business models it is necessary for Turkey to promote the Turkish youth through efficient education which develops competences and qualifications.
All participants agreed that to deepen the dialogue in the future. In this way, they want to contribute to a constructive conversation between Turkey and Germany. In future the event will be held once a year.
