Awarding of the certificates

Prof. Dr. Bilal KARABULUT (Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University) awarded the certificates after his lecture on "Security and Defence Policy of the European Union" with KAS Turkey and TANDEM

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Turkey organized the 115th “EU Education and Certification Program” in cooperation with the Turkish-German Association for Solidarity and Integration (TANDEM) on 07/08/09 – 14/15 October 2019 at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Turkey has set itself the goal to impart knowledge about the EU, the institutions of the EU and the most important policy areas of the EU with this certificate program, which has been carried out for 18 years at universities in all regions of Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Öcal, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli (HBV) University noted in his opening speech how useful this program is for all students, while Turkey’s EU accession process is going on. Then Prof. Dr. Nail Alkan, the chairman of TANDEM and lecturer from Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Department of International Relations launched his presentation about the European Union's progress from the establishment to the present. He addressed relations between Turkey and the European Union and discussed the future of the European Union.

On the second day of the event, the rector of Nevşehir HBV University Prof. Dr. Mazhar Bağlı made an efficient lecture on the founding philosophy of the EU. Bağlı, began his speech by emphasizing the importance of the program and thanked to KAS Turkey to organize such an important program like this at Nevşehir HBV University. He also stated that the students' interest in these subjects both excited and encouraged him. In the afternoon on the same day, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Öcal, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Nevşehir HBV University explained in his presentation the institutional structure, functioning and decision-making mechanisms of the EU. 

The third day of the program, lecturer Dr. Levent Ersin Orallı delivered an inspiring presentation focusing on the topics of EU project management, EU training programs, and scholarships. Participants were highly interested in this lesson in terms of benefiting from funds donated by the European Union to Turkey.

On the 14th October Prof. Dr. Sezai Türk made an interesting presentation on the power of social media by addressing the media policies of the European Union.

At the final day, Prof. Dr. Bilal Karabulut from Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Department of International Relations made a presentation about security theories with the focus on the EU's security policy in the light of the last developments in the migration issues.

The event was concluded with the closing speech by the Dean and the certificates ceremony. About 220 students out of 400 participants received the EU Certificates. The question and answer sessions after each lesson and also the social media poll, has shown again that the students are still very interested in the European Union and still believe in Turkey's EU membership in the far future.
