Interactive Exhibition

Games and Politics is a touring exhibition by Goethe Institut that has been travelling around the globe, last stop was Addis Ababa in Ethopia. This year’s edition is being hosted in Kampala (March - May) in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Uganda and South Sudan and the Design Hub Kampala. It is based on the exhibition Global Games by the ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien) in Karlsruhe, Germany, and focuses explicitly on political games created since 2004.

ENFORCING POLITICAL COOPERATION IN ACHOLI SUB REGION

Local leaders trained on how to work together regardless of political affiliation

Between 16th and 17th June 2016, 43 participants drawn from Lamwo, Pader and Kitgum districts participated in a training workshop on promoting good governance in their districts. Aware of the fact that multipartyism is still relatively new in Uganda; the concept lacks appreciation especially at the local level thus the need to orient the new leaders on the key tenets of the same.

Facilitating South Sudanese women to develop a National Strategy for enhancing their participation in the TGoNU

Despite the fact that women in South Sudan account for over 60% of the total population, their participation in governance and nation building is almost negligible as they are not adequately represented in political and decision making processes. This is attributed to a host of factors like: discriminatory cultural traditions, abject poverty, high illiteracy rate among women, low economic power etc. Therefore, in order to amplify the voices of women, special efforts and strategies need to be developed and applied to include adequate women participation in national decision-making processes.

The Lira debate was a second in the 2016 debating series which seeks to evaluate youth engagement in the 2016 polls as well as identify and document strategies for a more constructive and sustained youth political engagement beyond elections. The debate is also build-up into the 2016 annual youth conference portended for May 2016, which will also address the same topic from a national perspective.
