Young female leaders are eager to shape the women´s youth agenda in Uganda
On 14th to 16th of March the National Youth Council in cooperation with KAS hosted a training of Secretaries for Female Affairs in Arua, in order to enhance and professionalize female participation in Ugandan politics. The 2-days training was organized to give a platform to young women leaders to address challenges and receive skills for sustainable conflict resolution and to actively participate and shape the democratic processes in Uganda.

Making the Access to Information law work towards improving local governances in Uganda
On the 12th to 14th march 2018, Hub for Investigative Media (HIM) with support from Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) carried out a sensitization training on access to information that targeted local government officials such as Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) and District Information Officers (DIOs) from the districts of Jinja, Bugiri, Buyende, Luuka, Kamuli, Kaliro and Mayuge in eastern Uganda to empower them with the access to information law and regulations.

On 03 March, the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) partnered to hold the first POLA-LAB workshop in Lira, Northern Uganda. The platform for political leadership advancement aims to mentor effective young political and community leaders by training them in the areas of political and social mobilisation, advocacy and political economy analysis.

Understanding the High Level Revitalization Forum and Its Mediation Role in the South Sudan Conflict
On the 2nd March 2018, the Network of South Sudanese Civil Society Organizations in Uganda (NOSSCOU) organized a public dialogue to discuss the role of the current IGAD mediated High Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF). The dialogue, co-organized with the International Youth for Africa (IYA) and supported by KAS brought together 160 South Sudanese politicians from both SPLM-IO and SPLM-IG and civil society actors with a core aim of stimulating constructive conversations about the prospects of the HLRF talks and its likely implications to receive peace in the conflict ravaged country.

How Local Governments Can Make Use of Social Media to Enhance Civic Engagement and Access of Information
A systematic flow of information from local governments to their electorate is inevitable to assure good governance, transparency and accountability within the democratic system of Uganda. CEMCOD (Centre for Media Literacy and Community Development) has conducted a 3-day training in cooperation with KAS from 20th – 22nd February, in order to train local leaders of Masaka region about the effective use of social media to enhance civic engagement and information access for society.

Training the Next Generation of High-Qualified Journalists
This year, KAS is partnering with Media Challenge Initiative and DW Academy to launch the very first Next – Gen Journalist Fellowship Program. It is an aggressive 6-month multimedia journalism training given to the best 25 students out of 12 universities in Uganda. On 8th–12th January 2018 the fellowship kicked off with a first training, whereby professional journalists from different media sectors combined report assignments and overall trainings in online, radio and television journalism for all fellows.
