Access to information is a fundamental human right recognized by international human rights instruments including article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides that, “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers”

Debating about the structure of a post-conflict South Sudan

Due to continuous violence in South Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict in 2013, the IGAD countries will soon start the 2nd phase of the High Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF) to promote a revitalized and stable peace process within the country. Therefore, KAS in partnership with the Center for Peace and Justice and the African Youth Action Network (AYAN) organized another roundtable discussion at Makerere University. Young and Emerging Leaders Program Graduation: Transformative Leadership for Society

From 26 to 27 January, LéO Africa Institute hosted the graduation seminar at Lake Victoria Serena Resort for the inaugural class of their Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Inspiring the Next Generation of Media Professionals in Uganda

In 2017, we partnered with Media Challenge Initiative and the DW-Akademie to implement the Media Challenge Academy project which took us to over 20 universities and media institutes in Uganda providing practical training and lessons on broadcast journalism to a total of 500 students. At both the Media Challenge Expo where students showcased their skills and at the Media Challenge Awards night were best students were recognized, up to 1,000 students, most of them undertaking media studies actively participated.

Achieving Peace in South Sudan: What Role for Civil Society?
