In 2013, African heads of government agreed to form an agenda that would guide national development frameworks of the member states in achieving certain development aspirations that the continent is aiming to attain over the next 50 years.

Beyond Elections: Fostering and Sustaining Constructive Youth Political Engagement.
The Lira debate was a second in the 2016 debating series which seeks to evaluate youth engagement in the 2016 polls as well as identify and document strategies for a more constructive and sustained youth political engagement beyond elections. The debate is also build-up into the 2016 annual youth conference portended for May 2016, which will also address the same topic from a national perspective.
GAIN-Uganda to develop civic education measures targeting the local level
GAIN-Uganda intends to scale up its civic education engagement with the community as one of the ways to promote good governance and accountability at the local level in Uganda. GAIN- Uganda is comprised of local organisations that have interest in promoting accountability at the local level. The membership which is spread across 11 districts of Uganda provides a wide reaching effect once effective strategies and tools for engaging the public are developed.

Social Media for Effective Local Government Service Delivery
With the deepening of internet penetration and the increasing popularity of social media, technical savviness is a necessity if such platforms are to be used as a democracy advancement tool. During a three days residential workshop, 20 senior local government officials including the Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), District Information Officers and Community Development Officers from 5 districts of Eastern Uganda received a special and practical training on social media usage to enhance their skills of using these platforms as a tool for improving local government service delivery.

CO-OPERATION FOR POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT
Fostering Constructive Youth Political Engagement through Organisations
Together with our partner, the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG), we held a public debate at the Civil Service College in Jinja to discuss mechanisms for enforcing effective and meaningful cooperation among youth groups and organizations. The debate which attracted 120 participants, mostly students and young leaders from Busoga University and the Jinja Branch of Makerere University offered an exciting learning and dialogue platform on topical issues related to political and organizational development.
