The workshop in Kiboga, which took place from 14 to 16 of April, is the first of a series of workshops which focus on equipping aspiring leaders with skills and information on their mandate and as such support them to design their campaigns along achievable outcomes in relation to their mandate as women’s representatives and female political leaders.

After the first workshop of the year, where the “Young Leaders Think Tank for Policy Alternatives” set the frame for the upcoming work, they met again on Saturday, 25th April 2015 at Salama Shield Foundation. During this follow-up meeting, the participants concretized the planning process as well as reviewed the progress so far attained by the groups.

Unity in Diversity?
Scholars Discuss Religious Tolerance and Radicalisation in Uganda
On 27 March 2015, a public dialogue organised by the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) brought together secular and religious scholars to discuss the question of “Unity in Diversity: Perspective on Uganda as a Multidenominational Society”. While also discussing the roots and causes of religious radicalisation in Uganda, the dialogue was a strong call for religious tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue between people belonging to different faiths and denominations.

Student Leaders as Drivers of Democratic Reform
Debate of the Candidates for the Position of Guild President, Makerere University
On 8 March 2015 the annual guild presidential candidates’ debate took place at Makerere University. The debate is traditionally organised by the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Uganda and South Sudan. The debate gave the nine candidates for the position of Guild President the chance to improve on their debating skills and offered the students of Makerere University an opportunity to inform themselves about the candidates and their programmes.

Since the subject is heatedly discsussed within civil society and the political sphere, the publication is not only timely, but was also used to advocate for the Think Tank's recommendations within different fora.

Africa Rising!
Challenges, Opportunities, and Prospects for Sustainable Economic Transformation
In a public lecture organised by the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG) in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) on 16 April 2014, Prof. Charles Kwesiga, Executive Director of the Uganda Industrial Research Institute, reflected on the chances of and challenges for economic transformation in Uganda. The lecture was followed by a panel discussion with representatives of academia, civil society, and politics. All panellists agreed that Uganda has the potential for economic transformation, but that the necessary economic and institutional framework for this was not in place.

Between 11 and 13 March 2014 Action for Development (ACFODE), a Ugandan women's rights organisation, held a highly successful workshop for female councillors in Pallisa District in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). The aim of the workshop was to equip the female participants with the tools they need in order to successfully champion the interests of their constituents generally and those of women particularly.
