Reality Check Conference-Employment, Entreprenuership and Education in Uganda

The conference on employment, entrepreneurship, and education will explore how decent employment at scale can be achieved in Uganda. Employment at scale is when an economy gets a significant number of its labour force into gainful employment. The discourse will examine the relationship between education, entrepreneurship, and employment. It will also address questions of employment politics particularly how governance and accountability impacts on decent employment in Uganda.

Prevention of Extremism in a Diverse Society – the Role of State and Religion

The prevention of extremism was discussed in a high level round table discussion organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung on Thursday 6th April 2017, with the intention to initiate dialogue series on effective ways to counter the radicalization of the Society. Special focus was put on the role of the state and religion.

Providing a Platform for Political Engagement at Makerere University

After a successful first guild debate on the 26th of March 2017, KAS, UNIFOG in partnership with the Makerere guild electoral commission organized a second Guild Debate on the 2nd of April 2017 at Makerere University Main Hall. This was to further our support to building accountable leaders who espouse democratic values as student leaders quite often translate into national leaders.

“We cannot work in isolation” - The National Youth Council Public Dialogue

DREAM OR FALLACY - BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN YOUTH AND PARLIAMENT

In order to rebuild the connections of Youth MPs and the youth in Uganda’s communities and to improve the representation of youth in parliament, the Interparty Youth Platform initiated a public dialogue in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the International Republican Institute.

Discussing Media Coverage of Women in the Ever-Changing World of Work

In light of the Theme of 2017 International Women’s Day commemoration (i.e. Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030), the #womeninmediaug campaign, an initiative supported by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in partnership with Mon Pi Mon and SheMattersUganda, held an evening public conversation with leading Ugandan media practitioners, civil society activists and politicians.

Building Synergies between Political Parties and CSOs for Constructive Youth Participation in Politics

On the 10th of March 2017, the University Forum on Governance in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung organised a roundtable discussion at Makerere University, Kampala. The discussion aimed at reflecting on the initiatives by the two dominate agencies – political parties and the civil society organizations in advocating for the fair representation of the youth interests at policy discussion levels.
