The Status and Costs of Kampala’s Polluted Air

As a rapidly growing city, Kampala is facing the equally mounting problem of pollution, impacting the health of its inhabitants. Pollution occurs in an abundance of forms, roughly categorized into air, water and land pollution. Urban areas suffer greatly from air pollution mainly due to combustion processes. Critical sources of harmful emissions include vehicles, unpaved roads, industry, open waste burning and domestic cooking. This meeting is to bring key players of the various sectors together to share information on the prevalent situation, on the state of current projects and on the prospects, hence identifying opportunities for cooperative synergies.
