Reflection Meeting for District and Sub-County Women Caucuses

Action for Development (ACFODE) in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) engages both aspiring and elected women leaders with the aim of increasing transformative representation of women in political and decision-making positions. One of the key strategies used is Women Caucuses. ACFODE in partnership with KAS will conduct a follow-up of the women caucus in Apac District. The follow up will focus on how the caucuses have been able to utilize the knowledge and skills gained from the exchange learning visits and the different engagements to replicate best practices and lessons learned to improve the lives of women and girls in their constituencies.

The Directorate for National Guidance (DNG) in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organises a workshop to train elected leaders on key topics that are geared towards fostering togetherness and ensuring that district councils work effectively in a multiparty system at the district level.

Intercultural Dialogue on "Building a Shared South Sudan Identity"

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organises in cooperation with the Young-adult Empowerment Initiative (YEi) under the Network of South Sudanese Civil Society Organizations in Uganda (NoSSCOU) a half-day R-ARCISS dissemination workshop to deepen the understanding of youth, women, religious, and community leaders on the Peace Agreement as well as their collective responsibilities and efforts to rally support in its implementation. Additionally, an inter-cultural public dialogue will take place. The purpose of the planned public dialogue is to bring South Sudanese refugee communities in Bidi Bidi Settlement together where they can interact and exchange views with the goal to create understanding and trust among themselves.

During the inaugural workshop held in Juba on 13th & 14th of February 2020, the political leadership advancement training brought together 30 youth who have demonstrated leadership potentials through previous volunteer engagements and professional work and are interested in furthering their leadership skills and political competencies which will allow them to actively take part in political leadership and civic processes.

Together with the Directorate of National Guidance (DNG) we hosted a two days training for district leaders in Lira in order to promote political pluralism and stronger collaboration among the appointed and elected leaders at the local government level.

The Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung, LéO Africa Institute and Stanbic Bank are therefore bringing together young and aspiring thinkers of a new generation. Already in its third year, the Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) brings together over 30 change makers in various fields to reflect and learn more about servant leadership and why it is a key ingredient for addressing the 21st century leadership and development challenges. From 7th to 9th February 2020, we welcomed 21 fellows of the third cohort to their graduation seminar.
