Recent investigations by the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution have shown that the number of Islamists who travel from Germany to international trouble spots in order to pursue terrorist activities is increasing. Especially Syria and Iraq are in the focus of these events, due to increased numbers of trained jihadis calling followers at home to arms. A coordinated approach of the transatlantic partners against these foreign fighters is required urgently.

Dr. Günter Krings MP, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Internal Affairs, will present his opinion during two KAS-organized events in Washington DC. Dr. Krings will meet representatives of the US-administration, think-tanks and international organizations.
