“Perspectives on Cooperative International Development in Central Asia - Is There a Common Ground?” - Foundation Office Washington, D.C.
Expert talk
Details
Transatlantic communication is of the utmost importance in developing a successful strategy in insecure and instable regions. This is especially important when many policy areas are affected. In central Asia, for instance, matters of cooperative development are just as relevant as matters of inner security, terrorism and international trade. The resource-rich central Asian countries are attracting increasing attention due to their strategic and economic endowment. A strategic engagement of the transatlantic community is therefore indispensable, especially in light of present Chinese, Russian and Indian interest in that region.
On this occasion, Klaus-Jürgen Hedrich, former Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and longtime expert for cooperation with central Asian countries, will present his assessment of the current situation. Among others, he will meet with the Turkmenian Ambassador to the U.S. as well as representatives from development banks, think tanks and various international organizations.
