Details

We will continue in 2016 to work for a better understanding across the Atlantic about developments in the United States and the European Union. In this context we want to focus on one development that is of special concern for the future of Europe and the trans-Atlantic relationship.

Learn first-hand from Hans-Hartwig Blomeier, Director of the KAS London office since 2013, about the likelihood and impact of the British withdrawal from the European Union (also referred to as “Brexit”). Hans-Hartwig Blomeier has been with KAS since 1987; with high-level responsibilities and functions around the world with a particular emphasis on Latin America.

In the United States there is a keen interest in how Great Britain will decide in the coming months. In his campaign pledge of 2015, Prime Minister David Cameron made a commitment to hold an in/out EU referendum. Cards are beginning to be stacked in favour of leaving the EU. Taking the British demands seriously is paramount to bringing the British back into the fold of the EU. A Brexit would come at high political, economic and strategic cost to the United States and the EU.

This event is by invitation only.
