Details

The 21-head delegation, aspiring German journalists and fellows in the KAS journalism scholarship program, are in Washington D.C. on a fact-finding mission to dig deeper into American politics and gain a better understanding of reporting about complex trans-Atlantic issues.

They will meet with lobbyist and trade expert Charles Ludolph to learn more about the trade agreement TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) – a controversial topic in Europe, which recently drew thousands of protesters to the streets of Berlin.

Following the discussion of TTIP, the participants will delve into the upcoming U.S. presidential campaign. Political consultant Soren Dayton will give an overview of the Republican Presidential candidates and Washington reporter Emily Schultheis will give an introduction into the Democratic campaign. The journalists and experts will engage in a question and answer session for deeper analysis of campaign issues and better understanding of reporting of U.S. politics.

This is an invitation only workshop.
