Visiting Program in Washington, DC with the Members of Bundestag Hermann Gröhe and Dr. Georg Kippels

Hermann Gröhe, Vice Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group, former Federal Minister of Health and Vice Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung visited Washington, DC on the occasion of the World Health Summit Regional Meeting. He was accompanied by fellow Bundestag Member Dr. Georg Kippels, Member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, the Health Committee, and the Subcommittee on Global Health.

Dimensions of the Transatlantic Economy, Innovation in Higher Education and Multilateral Cooperation

Visiting program in Boston, New York and Washington, DC with Professor Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rüttgers, former federal minister and former minister president of North Rhine-Westfalia, visited the United States from February 10th to the 17th. He met with experts from academic institutions and research organizations to take an in-depth look at US education and innovation. Rüttgers, a board member of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, held talks with business representatives, high-level political stakeholders and think tank experts about the transatlantic relationship in the light of the war in Ukraine and the state of the economy. Representatives of the United Nations, IOE and ILO discussed with Dr. Rüttgers current challenges and future opportunities to drive the dialogue on both sides of the Atlantic for multilateral cooperation.

Der CDU/CSU-Fraktionsvorsitzende Volker Kauder hat am zweiten Tag einer internationalen Konferenz in New York die UNO aufgerufen, bei ihrer Vollversammlung das Thema der Verfolgung aus religiösen Gründen anzusprechen. „Viele Flüchtlinge kommen nach Europa zum Beispiel aus Syrien und dem Irak, wo sie auch wegen ihres Glaubens verfolgt werden und ihre Heimat verlassen müssen. Dort werden nicht nur Christen verfolgt, sondern auch Muslime vertrieben”, sagte Kauder.

A Workshop with Dr. Charles Ludolph and Barton Forsyth

On July 20th, 2015 the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation hosted a workshop to discuss the current topics of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the USA Freedom Act. Experts, Dr. Charles Ludolph, the President and CEO of Transnational Analytics LLC, and Bart Forsyth, Chief-of-Staff to Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), gave illuminating presentations with regard to U.S. trade and intelligence policy. German participants were part of a multi-day exchange program between the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the American Jewish Committee.

Auch bei der diesjährigen Transatlantischen Konferenz der KAS Büros Brüssel und Washington offenbarte sich die Relevanz einer Fokussierung auf den jeweiligen langjährigen Partner.

On June 18th, 2015, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted a discussion on Dr. Christoph v. Friedeburg’s paper “Broken Promises: Impacts of Pennsylvania’s Shale Gas Boom on Local Economies” (March 2015). The attendees discussed Mr. Friedeburg’s report, examined the fracking debate from transatlantic perspectives, and discussed other energy issues, with an emphasis on renewable and sustainable energy sources.

Juni, 2015 hat die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung zur Diskussionsrunde mit Dr. Christoph von Friedeburg über seinen Report „Broken Promises: Impacts of Pennsylvania’s Shale Gas Boom on Local Economies” (March 2015) eingeladen. Die Teilnehmer diskutierten über Dr. Friedeburgs Bericht, beleuchteten die „Fracking“ Debatte aus transatlantischer Perspektive und sprachen über weitere Energiethemen, mit Schwerpunkt auf erneuerbare und umweltverträgliche Energiequellen.

The discussion provided a forum for senior experts and officials to discuss their perspectives on the implications of the Ukraine crisis for the transatlantic relationship.

Am 14. April 2015 organisierte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung gemeinsam mit dem German Marshall Fund (GMF)eine Expertenrunde mit hochrangigen Mitarbeitern aus dem US-Repräsentantenhaus und dem US-Senat. Auf der Tagesordnung war das Handels- und Investitionsabkommen, TTIP, welches derzeit zwischen der EU und den USA verhandelt wird. Peter Beyer, MdB war in seiner Eigenschaft als Bundestagsabgeordneter und Berichterstatter der ‘CDU/CSU-Fraktion für die Transatlantischen Beziehungen für die Weiterentwicklung der wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und den USA‘ zu Besuch in Washington.
