An IAJP-UAC-KAS partnership for greater civic engagement in Benin

On 4 October 2023, the "Institut des artisans de justice et de paix - Chant d'oiseau (IAJP/Co)", in partnership with the University of Abomey-Calavi and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, organised a workshop in Cotonou on "Citizenship and patriotic duties: young people getting involved in the city". A number of students from various universities and young people from civil society took part in the event.

Alumni and current Fellows reflect on recent municipal and regional elections

Young people active in Ivorian civil society met in Abidjan on Friday September 22, 2023 to exchange their views and share their youthful perspective on the latest elections held in Côte d'Ivoire on the same month. Gathered in a network of alumni of the regional scholarship program PDWA of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), about ten of them took part in this semi-annual framework of discussions of the network in the presence of Dr. Stefanie Brinkel, Resident Representative of the KAS in Abidjan, Kevin Anvo, PDWA Program Officer and Gnamien Attoubré, President of the network of scholarship holders in Côte d'Ivoire and all West African scholarship holders.

Discussions on decentralization have been held

On Saturday October 21, 2023, PDWA Fellows from Guinea met in Conakry to discuss decentralization and their potential involvement in the management of their respective local authorities. They grasped the challenge of decentralization as a powerful development tool to facilitate and meet the local needs of populations in communes and departments.

From October 16 to 21, 2023, Solution Think Tank (STT) held its 1st face-to-face meeting in Conakry, Guinea. This West African think tank spent a week discussing the theme "Decentralization and local development in West Africa: challenges and prospects".
