Premio Economía Social de Mercado

Premio "Economía social de mercado"

Soziale Marktwirtschaft vollzieht sich nicht in Gesetzbüchern, sondern im Denken und Handeln der Menschen.

Richard von Weizsäcker

Social market economy is not an economic theory; on the contrary, it places people, their commitment and initiative in the forefront. Social market economy is achieved by the ability to take – political and economic – innovative action over the long-term, by independent entrepreneurship and the willingness to accept responsibility. Practical action and personal role models are needed in order to make a social market economy effective. That is why the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung created the Social Market Economy Prize. In 2002, for the first time the non-pecuniary prize was awarded for outstanding achievements by individuals in the spirit of the social market economy.

The award-winners performance should and will embolden people to confidently tackle even the most difficult tasks; it should and will provide an impetus for the content of political work, as well as stressing the importance of fundamental principles of social market economy for our present-day challenges. The award-winners were nominated by a jury consisting of renowned members and confirmed by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Board of Directors.
