Conference on “democracy in crisis, democracy in change: From popular defiance to citizen participation”

In partnership with the Observatoire de la fonction publique et de la bonne Gouvernance OFP of the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (USJ) the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) conducted an international conference on the 14th of November, 2019, on the challenge of participative democracy in Europe and Lebanon with the participation of politicians, experts and academics from Europe and Lebanon. The conference took place at the Campus des sciences sociales of the University (Rue Huvelin), in Achrafieh in the presence of more than 100 participants (activists, academics, politicians, journalists and students) from Lebanon and abroad.

Enhancing writing skills of local NGO researchers, public administration employees and analysts

From the 11th – 14th of November, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation hosted with the local research organisation SYNAPS an intensive workshop on writing, editing and communication for 11 non-native local NGO researchers, public administration employees and analysts. The workshop delivered a comprehensive training in producing written work and marketing it for a targeted audience.

Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas – Halba/Akkar

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Beirut, in partnership with the Committee for Women and Children at Lebanese Parliament, the SMART Center and the Union of Municipalities of Al Shafat launched the third and last workshop out of three entitled “Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas”. The workshop took place on the 15.07.2019 in Halba - Akkar in the presence of women from Wadi Khaled, Akkar and Tyre and women entrepreneurs, mayors and dignitaries from the region. The workshop, aimed to shed the light at the women entrepreneurs in the region and train them in areas related to financial management, marketing and branding. It also gave the women entrepreneurs from the region the opportunity to network with women entrepreneurs from the region of Tyros and with each other. The theoretical part of the workshop was complemented by practical exercises as well as an exhibition in which the participants presented their goods to a broad public and to each other for peer review.

The workshop took place on the 08.07.2019 in Baalbek in the presence of more than 130 women entrepreneurs, mayors and dignitaries from the region. The workshop, aimed to shed the light at the women entrepreneurs in the region and train them in areas related to financial management, marketing and branding. It also gave the women entrepreneurs from the region the opportunity to network with women entrepreneurs from the region of Tyros and with each other. The theoretical part of the workshop was complemented by practical exercises as well as an exhibition in which the participants presented their goods to a broad public and to each other for review.

Workshop "Wirtschaftliche Stärkung von Frauen in ländlichen Gebieten"

Gemeinsam mit dem Ausschuss für Frauen und Jugend des libanesischen Parlaments, dem SMART-Center und der Vereinigung der Gemeinden in Tyros veranstaltete die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) am 13. März 2019 in der Stadt Tyros, Südlibanon, den ersten Workshop der Veranstaltungsreihe "Wirtschaftliche Stärkung von Frauen in ländlichen Gebieten". Die Veranstaltung ermöglichte 130 teilnehmenden Unternehmerinnen die Aufnahme in ein Netzwerk von Produzenten, Consultants und Unterstützern und zielte darauf ab, ihre Kapazitäten in den Bereichen Finanzmanagement, Branding und Marketing zu fördern. Zudem bot der Workshop den Teilnehmerinnen die Möglichkeit, ihre Waren einer breiten Öffentlichkeit vorzustellen. Die Veranstaltungsreihe fußt auf den Ergebnissen einer vom SMART Center im Auftrag der KAS durchgeführten Studie zu den Bedürfnissen libanesischer Unternehmerinnen in kleinen und mittelständischen Betrieben.

Unlocking the Economic and Financial value of Telecom Sector in Lebanon

Am 4. März 2019 veranstaltete die Lebanese Forces Partei in Kooperation mit dem Auslandsbüro der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Beirut und dem Middle Eastern Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS) einen geschlossenen Round Table zum Thema „Unlocking the Economic and Financial value of Telecom Sector in Lebanon”. Der Round Table war die dritte Veranstaltung einer Serie von Workshops, welche sich mit den Herausforderungen der libanesischen Wirtschaft und des Finanzsektors auseinandersetzen. Der Round Table fand unter Schirmherrschaft des Stellvertretenden Premierministers, Herrn Ghassan Hasbani, im Hilton Metropolitan Hotel in Sin El Fil, Beirut statt. Unter den Teilnehmern befanden sich Minister, Parlamentarier, Vertreter der Lebanese Forces, Journalisten und Experten des Telekommunikationssektors. Die Veranstaltung bot den Teilnehmern die Gelegenheit, detaillierte Informationen zur Thematik zu vermitteln und sich über verschiedene Reformansätze auszutauschen.

Praktische Lösungen für Libanons Elektrizitätssektor

In Kooperation mit dem Auslandsbüro der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung im Libanon organisierte die Lebanese Forces Partei am 20. Februar 2019 den geschlossenen Workshop “Praktische Lösungen für Libanons Elektrizitätssektor”. Es war die zweite Veranstaltung einer Serie von Workshops, welche die wirtschaftlichen und politischen Herausforderungen des Libanons behandelt. Das Event fand im Hilton Metropolitan Hotel unter der Schirmherrschaft des Stellvertretenden Premierministers Ghassan Hasbani statt.
