Research Assistant Strong Cities 2030

Your studies include a focus on sustainable urban development, you are interested in innovative approaches to solve the challenges associated with rapid urbanization, you would like to help an international network grow, you would like to get to know professional fields of application and you are open to new cultures and workspaces? Then the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is giving you the best opportunity by offering a Strong Cities 2030 research assistant position.

Because of the legal situation in South Africa, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is not offering internships but practical research assistant positions for German students. Please send your application with all the requested documents to Ms Christina Teichmann.

The country project of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in South Africa offers a research assistant positions for students in the fifth semester or higher in our KAS Liaison Office in Cape Town. The general period of an internship is six to twelve weeks. We prefer applicants studying politics, humanities, economics or law sciences in their major and the applicant should have excellent English skills in analytical writing and communication.

You will assist in planning, organizing and administration of activities on political education in the context of the KAS-initiative Strong Cities 2030 and you will conduct your own research on specific academic topics. Furthermore, you will gain an insight in the work of a country office as well as getting to know the diverse partner organizations the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is working with.

Sadly, we are not able to pay any travel expenses as well as a monthly salary. Interns have to pay all costs for travel, accommodation and living themselves. The KAS offers assistance in providing information during the preparation for the intern’s stay in South Africa.

Due to high demand on our vacancies, we recommend sending us your application documents at least 6 months before your intended stay via email.

Applications should include the following documents and information:

  • a cover letter including motivation
  • a full CV
  • academic certificates
  • intended period for the internship
