DESCRIPTION:After Member States called for "a paradigm shift" and new innovative ways in migration policy to ensure asylum seekers whose applications have been rejected are effectively and speedily returned, the Commission answered this call by proposing a new regulation on 11 March 2025 replacing the current return directive. It is now upon the European Parliament and the Council to agree to the proposal.
