Expert Roundtable: Harvesting Benefits & Addressing Challenges of Migration

The eyes of the international expert community on Refugees and Mixed Migration are focused on the adoption of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in Marrakesh this December. Even if most UN Member States sign the agreement, the main challenge starts with its implementation.

The New York Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation will host an expert round table addressing the benefits and challenges of migration.
On this occasion, we would like to invite you to discuss together with the authors of the recent publication volume “Refugees and Migrants in Law and Policy – Challenges and Opportunities for Global Civic Education” the implications of their research for the achievement of the Global Compact for Migration objectives:

(16) Empower migrants and societies to realize full inclusion and social cohesion;

(17) Eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote evidence-based public discourse to shape perceptions of migration;

(19) Create conditions for migrants and diasporas to fully contribute to sustainable development in all countries.

Prof. h.c. mult. Dr. Dipl-Psych Helmut Kury, University of Freiburg, Founding Director of the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony, Expert on offender rehabilitation, crime prevention, attitudes and alternatives to punishment, mediation, victim offender restitution and international comparison of crime and punishment

Dr. Esther Shachaf Friedman, Assistant Professor of Social Work at Linnaeus University in Sweden, certified Social Worker and Member of the International Advisory Board of the Community of Restorative Researchers

Prof. Mally Shechory-Bitton, Vice Rector and Head of the Criminology Department at the Ariel University in Israel
