The Monitoring Regional Integration Yearbook reviews regional integration developments in Southern Africa and has been published by KAS and tralac since 2011. This yearbook will therefore mark the 15th publication in the series.

We are inviting abstracts (maximum 300 words) for papers to be included in the upcoming 2017/18 yearbook. The following are some of the areas that could be the focus of papers:

- Southern African Customs Union (SACU) developments

- Politics, Governance, Peace and Security developments

- External Relations and Regional Integration (eg SADC EPA, China, US)

- SADC’s industrial development agenda

- Infrastructure and infrastructure services: energy, transport, communications

- Legal and Institutional Development for Regional Integration

- Sustainable development agenda: climate change, environment, green economy, good governance

- Tripartite Free Trade Area and Continental Free Trade Area developments

Please note:

- This edition will focus on regional integration developments since 2000

- Acceptance of an abstract and first draft does not automatically result in publication of a paper

- Maximum words for the draft and final paper below

- Authors need to indicate whether the paper has been submitted for publication elsewhere

Time Line:

- Abstracts (max 350 words) should be sent to (trudi at tralac.org) by 10 August 2017

- Authors of selected papers will be notified by 25 August 2017 and will receive guidelines for preparation of the papers

- First drafts (max 7000 words) to be submitted by email(trudi@tralac.org) by 1 November 2017; following which authors will receive reviews from editors

- Final papers (max 7500 words) to be submitted by 10 January 2018

- Launch: May/June 2018
