The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung officially opened its Australia office in Canberra on 22 March 2017. To mark the occasion, a high-ranking German delegation, comprised of MP Volkmar Klein and Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, Deputy Secretary General of the KAS and Head of the Department for European and International Cooperation at KAS, travelled to Australia. Accompanied by Dr. Beatrice Gorawantschy, the Director of the new Regional Programme Australia and the Pacific, the delegation visited Sydney and Canberra to conduct a number of high-level political talks and expert dialogues. Against the backdrop of expanding existing partnership ties between Germany and Australia, these exchanges addressed key topics such as foreign and security policy, economic cooperation and parliamentary/political party dialogue.
