Die Konferenz zum Thema „Belarus und Belarussen unter den Nachbarn: historische Stereotypen und politische Konstrukte“ befasste sich mit den Beziehungen Belarus´ mit seinen Nachbarn, einschließlich politischer und wirtschaftlicher Beziehungen, kultureller Verhältnisse, historischer Stereotypen sowie Wechselwirkung zwischen nationalen Gemeinschaften, religiösen Strömungen, Kultur und bürgerlichen Nichtregierungsorganisationen, welche die belarussische Zivilgesellschaft ausmachen. In dieser Publikation sind Vorträge aus den folgenden Sektionen der Konferenz präsentiert: zwei historische Sektionen zu den Themen „Wie empfinden die Belarussen ihre Nachbarn: Kulturelle und historische Stereotypen“ und „Gemeinsam oder im Alleingang? Unterschiedliche Ansätze bei der Nationenbildung im Gebiet von Rzeczpospolita im XX. Jh.”; wirtschaftliche Sektion „Belarussische Wirtschaft im regionalen Kontext: „Eine Montagehalle” oder „Das europäische Nordkorea”, Sektion für Regionalkunde „Belarus und Nachbarn: Was stimmt nicht?” sowie eine Sondersektion zur Erinnerung an den bekannten belarussischen Politikforscher, Direktor des Belarussischen Instituts für Strategische Studien, Herrn Vital Silitski, mit dem Titel „Belarus: Gibt es eine Chance zur Europäisierung?”. Eine weitere Sektion zum Thema „Belarus als mißratener Staat? Besonderheiten der öffentlichen Politik und Rolle der Zivivlgesellschaft in regionaler Hinsicht” befasste sich mit einem für die belarussische akademische Gemeinschaft neuen Themenkreis der öffentlichen Politik.
