Foundation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, in partnership with the Association Jeunesse Verte du Cameroun (AJVC), organized a National Workshop for Youth representatives from the 10 regions of Cameroon from 20 to 22 September 2017 at the Palais Congres de Yaoundé. This workshop was held in preparation of the COP23, to be held in Bonn, Germany, on behalf of the Fiji Islands in November 2017.

Placed under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Cameroon (MINEPDED), "COP in my city" is a concept that simulates COPs (Conferences of Parties), bringing together governmental and non-governmental climate change actors every year.

The opening ceremony was marked by speeches from five imminent speakers, which include: Prof. Olivier Ruppel, Resident Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation; Mrs Marie Tamoifo Nkom, President of AJVC, and Regional Coordinator of REJEFAC; Honorable Louis Roger Essola Etoa, President of the Regional Steering Committee of CEFDHAC; Mr. Michel Ndjasana, Focal Point Climate Change at COMIFAC and Professor Joseph Amougou Armathe, Director of the National Observatory on Climate Change in Cameroon (ONACC).

The workshop consisted of three days of intense work, which served to better equip the Cameroonian youth, coming from the 10 regions of the national territory. The goals of this workshop amongst others were to: restitute COPs 21 and 22, bridge the gap between climate negotiations and the population, promote education and action on climate change at the local level, and create an international community of young climate change leaders.

All speakers focused on the causes of climate change; its effects and the various international climate negotiations in which the countries of Central Africa have participated. This was also reiterated during the implementation of measures, the realities and the challenges faced by these countries. They all noted the important role that young people play in implementing appropriate climate change solutions in the light of their diverse expertise.
