From the 25th to the 26th of January, Professor Oliver Ruppel, the resident representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Yaoundé, was on a working visit in Bangangté, an ecology friendly community of the West Region of Cameroon, well-known in the country for its commitment for sustainable projects in the water and energy sector.

The two day visit included a meeting with Mrs. Célestine Ketcha Courtez, the Mayor of the municipality and Mr. Oumarou Haman Wabi, the Senior Divisional Officer (prefect) of the Ndé division, of which Bangangté is the capital.

These meetings and an exclusive interview on the Bangangté radio station “Nganté FM” covered the presentation of the Climate Policy and Energy Security regional programme of the new established KAS in Subsaharan Africa. The hosts introduced environment related activities in their dynamic region. Furthermore, possible cooperation paths were discussed.

The productive working session with Mrs. Ketcha ended up in an invitation from KAS to attend a study and dialogue session bringing together other mayors and local authorities from Africa on the topic: “Green urban development”, which will take place in Berlin in April of this year.
