We the Queenmothers and Women Traditional Leaders from Northern and Southern Ghana, attending a workshop on the Role of Queenmothers in the 2012 General Elections held at the Regent Resort Sunyani, hereby RESOLVE that we shall be Agents of Peace Before, During and After elections 2012.Having been adequately educated on the destructive consequences of conflicts, we shall take the following steps to ensure PEACE Before, During and After the elections.

Zweitägiges Seminar zum Thema Chancen in der Zusammenarbeit der privat- und öffentlichen Wirtschaft

Über 40 Teilnehmer und Teilnehmerinnen aus der Privatwirtschaft trafen in Accra auf Vertreter des Ministeriums für Finanzen und Wirtschaftsplanung und des Ministeriums für Nahrung und Agrarwirtschaft, sowie auf Referenten aus der Privatwirtschaft.

Adressing Climate Change

Workshop for Traditional Leaders in the Upper West Region

In the northern parts of Ghana, climate change has already resulted in severe draughts in the dry season as well as floods during the rainy season. These contribute to high temperatures, influx of pests and diseases resulting in the loss of human life and property. Today, the effect of climate change is being felt all over Ghana, but more especially in the north, which is the food basket of the country.Therefore, KAS and CIKOD organized a two days programme in Wa to educate Traditional Leaders of the Upper West Region on Climate Change Adaptation and its impact on food security.

Ghana's Environment and the Social Market Economy

One day workshops in Techiman, Wenchi and Nkoranza

A total of 335 participants took part in the three workshops in Wenchi (21st Dec.), Techiman (22nd Dec.) and Nkoranza (29th Dec.) comprising community leaders, officials from the District Assembly, market queens, traders and farmers and representatives from hairdressers and dressmakers associations as well as students.

Following the invitation of the John A. Kufuor Foundation and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) the former German Federal President, his Excellency Prof. Dr. Horst Köhler, participated in the opening celebrations of the John A. Kufuor Foundation.

Conference: Retreat on the 2012 national budget for private sector

The recent conference in close cooperation of KAS and the Private Enterprise Foundation (PEF) was held with the objective to implement the individual ideas of enterprises into the 2012 budget statement. Over 50 members of trade and business associations and the private sector community attended the conference which took place the 21st July 2011 in Accra.

The important role of traditional women leaders in northern Ghana

Workshop with the theme: Women and Community Development in the Upper West Region in northern Ghana

The Workshop for Traditional Leaders took place on the 7th July 2011 in Wa, the regional capital of Upper West. Functioning as a sponsor, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the partner organization Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Organisation for Development (CIKOD) welcomed about 40 traditional leaders from the Upper West Region who actively engaged themselves in the topic of “Women and Community Development.”

Good Governance- adopting the policies within the District Assemblies

Workshop by GUTA and KAF in Wenchi

The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAF) in cooperation with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) gave a high-quality workshop on the concept of good governance for the (newly elected) Assembly Members of the Wenchi-region. Regarding the District Assemblies, the participants obtained new, valuable insights of how to foster development in their region, using the instruments that the good governance policy suggest.

Conflict Management in Northern Ghana- the important role of the woman

Workshops in Kpandai and Bimbila

The KAS in cooperation with our partner TEPPCON has given workshops in Kpandai and Bimbila in order to prevent arising tensions and manage conflicts more efficiently between ethnic groups of the Northern Region of Ghana.
