KAS and GUTA have worked closely to promote traders in the management of local issues in Ghana. We previously organised workshops on revenue mobilisation for District Assemblies in Techiman, Nkoranza, Atebubu and Kintampo districts. We also trained traders on various mechanism of accountability within the Assemblies. However in 2010, the emphases of these workshops were shifted from outside player to inside participant. We consequently sensitised and trained traders to fully participate in the electoral process. Some of them contested, others supported potential winners in the 2010 District Assemblies Elections.

As a result of good work and various training on political communication, fund raising and campaigning strategies, significant number of our participants won the district assembly elections. We therefore consider it prudent to offer training for them. The objectives of the training programmes are to prepare and equip them with the mode of operation of the District Assemblies.
