The title for 2013 was ‘Defining Europe’s Challenges’ and the focus was on the upcoming issues that will need to be addressed as Europe begins to move out of the crisis and towards its new policy goals.

Ziel der Veranstaltung war die Unterstützung beim Aufbau eines politischen Bildungs- und Be-ratungsinstitutes im Umfeld der Regierungs- und Partnerpartei Fine Gael. Dazu wurde dieser Workshop veranstaltet um den irischen Partnern einen Meinungs- und Erfahrungsaustausch mit vergleichbaren Institutionen aus Europa zu ermöglichen.

German-British Political Dialogue

During a meeting with British politicians at Westminster, the former Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, David McAllister, discussed British-German relations and the future of Europe. The event followed Mr McAllister’s participation earlier in the day at the launch of the "Business Manifesto for Reform" (released by Business for New Europe and attended by senior figures from all British parties) and was followed by a meeting with Minster for Europe David Lidington MP at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The 3rd EU-Briefing

Am 25.06. fand die dritte Diskussionsveranstaltung im unmittelbaren Vorfeld der nächsten EU-Ratssitzung statt - organisiert von der KAS und dem European Movement. Hierbei wurden die derzeitige wirtschaftliche und politische Situation in der EU und insbesondere die geplante Bankenunion, die Rolle Deutschlands und das geplante das EU-USA-Freihandelsabkommen besprochen.

Multi-Speed Europe and the Eurozone

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung und der Federal Trust organisierten im Verlauf des Jahres eine Reihe von Podiumsdiskussionen über die Entwicklung Europas. Die dritte Veranstaltung mit dem Thema 'Multi-speed Europe and the Eurozone' fand am 19. Juni im National Liberal Club statt. Die Rolle der Eurozone in einem Europa unterschiedlicher Geschwindigkeiten wurde dabei von Sir Brian Unwin, Dr. Ulrich Hoppe und Brendan Donnelly diskutiert.

Challenges and Prospects for an Integrated Energy Infrastructure in Europe

Am 18. Juni fand der vierte von fünf Workshops unter dem Titel 'Resilient Energy infrastructure' statt. Schirmherren dieses Projekts sind die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in London und das European Centre for Energy and Resources Security (EUCERS) des King’s College, London. Unterstützt wurden sie hierbei von zahlreichen weiteren Partnern.Das Thema "Challenges and Prospects for an Integrated Energy Infrastructure in Europe" diskutierten Dr. Anita Orban, Tora Leifland-Holström und Thomas J. Dimitroff.

In the context of the G7 Finance Minister Summit in London, Germany's Finance Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble joined an informal lunch discussion with Conservative MPs at Westminster organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Conservative MP Jesse Norman.

Creating Sustainabale Growth in Western Economies

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in London held its annual conference on 11th De-cember 2012. The theme was ‘Creating Sustainable Growth in Western Econo-mies’ and the keynote speaker was Minis-ter Peter Altmaier. Throughout the day there were three panels, in addition to the keynote speech, that addressed different aspects of the challenge to create econo-mies that are sustainable on both eco-nomic and environmental terms.
