Conflict in Sudan: An Invitation to a Dialogue Session

A KAS-MDC Forum for Intra-Regional Dialogue

Join us for an expert panel discussing the conflict in Sudan. This event, moderated by Sarah Awaidah, brings together Gal Lusky, the founder of Israeli Flying Aid (IFA), Dr. Haim Koren, former director of the Political Planning Division at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Israeli ambassador to Egypt and South Sudan. They will be joined by Mekki El Mograbi press writer on African Affairs and former diplomat in Washington D.C.

The Jewish King of Warsaw: Szczepan Twardoch in conversation with Michal Zamir

An event forming part of the series "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" in cooperation with KAS Israel

"King" is the latest book by Polish author Szczepan Twardoch, a crime novel telling the story of Yakub Shapira, a Jewish gangster and professional boxer. The author takes his readers into the underworld of 1930s Warsaw and masterfully sketches the growing antisemitism in Polish society at the time. The conversation between Twardoch and journalist Michal Zamir will focus on the Jewish underworld in Poland, the author's extensive research for his book and his surprising choice of subject for this literary work. This event is part of the special "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" series and takes places during the Jerusalem Writers Festival.

Salaam Iran: Golnaz Hashemzadeh Bonde in Conversation with Liraz Charhi

An event forming part of the series "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" in cooperation with KAS Israel

Golnaz Hashemzadeh Bonde was born in Iran and fled to Sweden with her parents when she was a child. In her second novel, "What We Owe", she relates the story of Nahid, an Iranian woman fleeing her country in the wake of Khomeini's rise to power. Designated a "masterpiece" by The Times, this book has won multiple literary awards and was translated into 25 languages. The conversation between Hashemzadeh Bonde and Liraz Charhi will centre around refugees and immigration, the longing for the bygone Iran, the current situation in the country as well as the life of the author. This event is part of the special "On Political Turmoil and Human Destiny" series and takes places during the Jerusalem Writers Festival.

Only a small majority of Palestinians (51%) and Israelis (59%; 53% of Jewish Israelis and 87% of Arab Israelis) supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.So reports the new Palestinian-Israeli Pulse: A Joint Poll, published today by the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) in Jerusalem and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) in Ramallah, with funding from the European Union (EU) and in partnership with and support from the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung in Ramallah and Jerusalem.

Das Auslandsbüro der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel veranstaltete anlässlich eines Initiativseminars von KAS-Stipendiaten am Dienstag, den 19. Juli, einen Rundtisch zum Thema „Ein Blick in die Zukunft der deutsch-israelischen Beziehungen - Perspektiven junger Führungskräfte“. Besonders im Fokus der verschiedenen Diskussionsrunden standen die demographischen, sozio-ökonomischen und sicherheitspolitischen Herausforderungen der jungen Generationen in Israel.

Religion und Politik - Glaube in Zeiten des Aufruhrs

Vom 26. bis 30. Juni diskutierten 50 junge jüdische und katholische Führungskräfte in Jerusalem über ihren Glauben, das Wechselspiel zwischen Religion und Politik sowie über Berührungspunkte zwischen Judentum und katholischer Kirche. Mitveranstaltet wurde das dreitägige Seminar von der Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews und dem International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC).

Am 9. Juni 2016 fand eine Vortragsveranstaltung im Rahmen der Finissage für die Ausstellung über Konrad Adenauer an der Universität von Haifa statt. Mit dieser Ausstellung ehrte das Haifa Center for German and European Studies (HCGES) die herausragende Bedeutung Konrad Adenauers auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene sowie seine Rolle für die Entwicklung der Beziehungen zwischen Israel und Deutschland.

Arms Control at a Crossroads

Unkontrollierbares Wagnis oder kalkulierbares Risiko? Ein Jahr nach dem Abkommen mit dem Iran richtete die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel, in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem ''Institute for National Security Studies'' (INSS), eine zweitägige Sicherheitskonferenz aus. Während der erste Konferenztag ein Expertenforum umfasste, das unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit tagte, richteten sich die insgesamt drei Diskussionsrunden mit internationalen Experten am zweiten Tag an die israelische Öffentlichkeit. Hier standen insbesondere die Vorbehalte Israels gegenüber dem Abkommen im Fokus.

Schauspielerin Iris Berben und der Leiter des Auslandsbüros der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel, Dr. Michael Borchard, haben bei einer Veranstaltung der Initiative Herausforderung Zukunft über ihr Jerusalem-Bild gesprochen. Anlass war die Vorstellung eines neuen Buches von Berben mit dem Titel „Jerusalem – Menschen und Geschichten einer wundersamen Stadt“.

From Sarona to Salon Berlin

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with The Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society organized a Study Day in Tel-Aviv for students of the Konrad Adenauer Division for European Studies. During the day the students learned about the history of Germans in Tel-Aviv Yaffo starting with a tour about the Templer settlers at the Sarona Colony, continuing with a lecture about German cuisine and finishing with a political briefing at the German Embassy.
