Details

Since its inception in October 2011, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Japan office organizes international conferences, workshops and seminars for experts from Asia and Europe. The goal is to establish a stronger dialogue and a continuous exchange of views on current security challenges, as well as risks and opportunities of multilateral cooperation between Asia and Europe with a special focus on Japan and Germany.

In cooperation with the Temple University Japan Campus we examined recent trends in international security cooperation between global players in Europe and Asia, as well as changing security dynamics in the Asia-Pacific. Of special interest were territorial disputes in the South-China Sea and Japan’s Northern Territories. For the first time widened the scope of the security discourse by including current developments in the Indian Ocean.

The conference offered a variety of dialogue-driven sessions on key aspects of relevant security policy and geopolitical developments in Europe and Asia. We are delighted that international speakers from Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and the USA have accepted our invitation to join us for the conference.
