The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Phnom Penh invited spokespersons and information officers from three provinces (Kandal, Kampong Speu and Preah Vihear), a representative of the Ministry of Information and a representative of the Interior Ministry, to a one-week study tour to Germany.

The purpose of the trip was:

- to provide an insight into the work of spokespersons of different institutions and government levels in Germany

- to illustrate that active information policy is required by all governmental levels

- to emphasize the great responsibility of information officers on national and sub-national levels.

During a discussion at the end of the study tour, the participants rated the talks with their counterparts in Germany to be very interesting and expressed the wish to share the experiences with their colleagues from other provinces. KAS, Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Interior therefore decided to conduct a one-day workshop on sharing information and experience about the study tour to Germany.

Objectives of the workshop

- to provide an insight into the work of spokespersons of different institutions and government levels in Germany

- to share the lessons learned in Germany

- to discuss how to strengthen the information policy in the provinces and in Phnom Penh
