Details

Our panel of experts: Nay Dina, Human Rights activist and Andrew Thompson, worked in UNTAC Human Rights Unit (Author of “Emergency Sex” in the time of UNTAC) and other speakers will be discussing the following questions:

-Why were the Khmer Rouge included as one of 4 Cambodia factions that signed the Paris Peace Accords? Did that grant them impunity?

-The successes and failures of the UNTAC in Cambodia

This session will discuss human rights controversies related to the UNTAC mandate. The UN was only mandated to promote and monitor the current human rights, but was not permitted to deal with the genocidal past crimes of the Pol Pot regime.

Place: PANNASASTRA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL , Conference Hall, Top Floor, No. 18 A, Street 370 (near to Beoung Keng Kang market, behind APSARA TV, BKK); (Khmer/English simultaneous translation provided)
