KAS Virtual Launch of Business Heroes in Kenya

Social Ecological Market Economy

In reference to the aspect of Social Market Economy, KAS Kenya ventured to follow the journey of one Kenyan Business Hero Dr. Maxwel Okoth, founder/CEO Ruai Family Hospital, RFH Healthcare Ltd, who shares his experiences in setting up his business despite the various challenges encountered. The film will thus further enhance experience sharing and discussions on how best to integrate the SEME aspect in the country.

Mentorship Training based on the evaluation

Political Training

On the 2nd-4th of April, 2019, KAS, Kenya held a mentorship training in Mombasa, with 17 young politicians. It was a follow up on previous mentorship programs, where mentors and mentees have been taken through the process of understanding their rights, the importance of political participation, as well as getting engaged in political actions on the ground. Overall, more than 850 mentees have benefitted from the program so far, countrywide. The program further trains and strengthens the mentees in organizing and conducting their own mentorship programs as a trickle-down effect.

Use of early-warning systems: Gathering information, technical instruments, engaging government.

The CSOs trained earlier particularly the ToTs and other facilitators will be assisted by KAS to put the knowledge learnt into action by engaging in community level trainings, this time round, in light of the ongoing government budgetary process.

DISSEMINATION SEMINAR ON EARLY WARNING SYSTEM(S) ANALYSIS AND FOOD SECURITY MAPPING REPORT FOR BARINGO COUNTY

Workshop: Technical support to and cooperation with County Budget & Economic Forum

March to June 2016 in selected target Counties

This workshop series was implemented in selected target counties, where where County Budget and Economic Forums (CBEFs) have been established. The CBEF is the most concrete legally mandated (Public Finance Management/PFM Act 2012, section 137 (1)) form for Public Participation at County level. During this training, the COFs seek cooperation and offer technical support to the CBEFs. Hence the activity intends to facilitate working relations between COFs and CBEFs by creating synergies as well as establishing and using avenues of Public Participation jointly.

Empowering Women in Leadership Positions on Land Rights: Workshop in West Pokot

KAS enhances women’s knowledge about the social and political implications regarding land rights

From 29th to 31st May 2016, KAS in partnership with SIKOM - The Peace Network for Development, organized a workshop for 32 county stakeholders, CSO representatives and representatives of women groups and land right institutions from West Pokot County in Teacher’s Plaza in Kapenguria. The event was a follow-up activity on other trainings on land rights implemented by KAS in the year 2015 and sought to provide the former participants with a platform to reunite again to jointly deliberate on the specific issue of women’s land rights.

Town Hall Debates on Voter Bribery in Bomet County

KAS-forum nurtures meaningful youth involvement in political party leadership and decision making

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in cooperation with the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) organized a cross-party town hall debate on meaningful youth involvement in political leadership and decision making. This debate was held on 4th June 2016 at Brevan Hotel in Bomet County. A total of 47 members of the audience representing political parties, National Youth Council, youth serving CBOs, students, private sector, civil society, media and professional associations participated in the debate on electoral challenges with a special focus on the issue of voter bribery.

Land Rights as Conflict Factor - Workshop in Baringo

KAS-training sensitizes State and non-State Actors on political and social Implications of Conflicts around Land Rights

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with the Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance (CEDGG) and Kenya Land Alliance held a two day lasting workshop in Kabarnet in Baringo County on 27th and 28th May 2016. The objective of the workshop was to discuss the status of the progress of land right implementation in Baringo, strengthen the existing knowledge on land rights as well as social and political implications with a special focus on conflict potential and the situation of women.
