KAS Virtual Launch of Business Heroes in Kenya

Social Ecological Market Economy

In reference to the aspect of Social Market Economy, KAS Kenya ventured to follow the journey of one Kenyan Business Hero Dr. Maxwel Okoth, founder/CEO Ruai Family Hospital, RFH Healthcare Ltd, who shares his experiences in setting up his business despite the various challenges encountered. The film will thus further enhance experience sharing and discussions on how best to integrate the SEME aspect in the country.

Mentorship Training based on the evaluation

Political Training

On the 2nd-4th of April, 2019, KAS, Kenya held a mentorship training in Mombasa, with 17 young politicians. It was a follow up on previous mentorship programs, where mentors and mentees have been taken through the process of understanding their rights, the importance of political participation, as well as getting engaged in political actions on the ground. Overall, more than 850 mentees have benefitted from the program so far, countrywide. The program further trains and strengthens the mentees in organizing and conducting their own mentorship programs as a trickle-down effect.

Use of early-warning systems: Gathering information, technical instruments, engaging government.

The CSOs trained earlier particularly the ToTs and other facilitators will be assisted by KAS to put the knowledge learnt into action by engaging in community level trainings, this time round, in light of the ongoing government budgetary process.

Das politische Klima in Kenia, der intra- und inter-parteiliche Diskurs und der Aufbau strategischer Allianzen unter den Parteien waren nur drei der Themen die auf dem Workshop für Senior- und Junior-Parteirepräsentanten behandelt wurden. Vom 11. bis zum 13. August fand der Workshop zur Förderung des kooperativen Dialogs innerhalb und außerhalb von Parteien in der Maanzoni Lodge, in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Hauptstadt Nairobi statt.

Die Landrechtproblematik in Kenia sowie ihre politischen und gesellschaftlichen Implikationen wurden intensiv während des Workshops in Baringo County im Kabarnet Hotel am 14 und 15 Juli diskutiert. Die Veranstaltung wurde von der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Zusammenarbeit mit der „Kenyan Land Alliance“ sowie der Nichtregierungsorganisation "Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance" (CEDGG) organisiert.

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organisierte in Zusammenarbeit mit der kenianischen Handels- und Industriekammer (KNCCI) einen Workshop für 58 Führungskräfte und Unternehmer aus sechs Sub-Counties von Mombasa County. Die Veranstaltung fand im Nyali Beach Hotel in Mombasa am 28. und 29. Juli 2015 statt und hatte hochrangige Teilnehmer, so unter anderen Mr. Kiprono Kittony, Founder Chairman of Radio Africa Limited, CEO of Capital Realtime Limited und ein Board Member des Media Council of Kenya.

Civil Society Representatives and CEDGG on Land Rights Reforms Introduced by the new Kenyan Constitution

KAS Workshop in Cooperation with Kenyan Land Alliance and CEDGG

Land Right Issues in Kenya and their political and social implications were discussed intensively during the workshop that was held on the 14th and 15th of July at Kabarnet Hotel, Baringo County. The event was organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in collaboration with the “Kenyan Land Alliance” and the "Center for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance" (CEDGG). The aim of the training was to sensitize participants on the governance of land and natural resources.

Rights and the Role of Women in Politics

The workshop on the topic “The Role of Women in Politics: Possibilities of Intervention” which took place from 17th to 18th of July, was organised by Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in West Pokot. The event focused on supporting women in West Pokot County to get informed about their rights and about different possibilities to become involved in politics as determined in the new constitution from 2010.

Enhancing youth leadership and participation in devolution

National Youth Forum on Devolution

The one day forum brought together youth leaders-from all the 47 counties, youth serving organizations, government, development partners, civil society organizations private sector, media and organizations implementing programs on devolution. With more than 80 participants, the forum included a series of presentations, plenary discussions and group work.

Ensuring devolution delivers for business through advocacy and coalition building in pursuit of business interest

With the concept of devolution firmly enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010,the private sector reckons the urgent need for reorganizing its advocacy approach to ensure that devolution works for the business environment. The workshop targeted members and officials of all Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI)-Nakuru from all the Sub-Counties of Nakuru County namely Nakuru East, Nakuru West, Rongai, Subukia, Gilgil, Naivasha, Bahati, Kuresoi, Njoro and Molo.
