Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas – Halba/Akkar

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Beirut, in partnership with the Committee for Women and Children at Lebanese Parliament, the SMART Center and the Union of Municipalities of Al Shafat launched the third and last workshop out of three entitled “Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas”. The workshop took place on the 15.07.2019 in Halba - Akkar in the presence of women from Wadi Khaled, Akkar and Tyre and women entrepreneurs, mayors and dignitaries from the region. The workshop, aimed to shed the light at the women entrepreneurs in the region and train them in areas related to financial management, marketing and branding. It also gave the women entrepreneurs from the region the opportunity to network with women entrepreneurs from the region of Tyros and with each other. The theoretical part of the workshop was complemented by practical exercises as well as an exhibition in which the participants presented their goods to a broad public and to each other for peer review.

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Beirut, in partnership with the Committee for Women and Children at Lebanese Parliament, the Governor of Baalback Hermel, the SMART Center and the Union of Municipalities in Baalbek, launched the second workshop out of three entitled “Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas”. The workshop took place on the 08.07.2019 in Baalbek in the presence of more than 130 women entrepreneurs, mayors and dignitaries from the region. The workshop, aimed to shed the light at the women entrepreneurs in the region and train them in areas related to financial management, marketing and branding. It also gave the women entrepreneurs from the region the opportunity to network with women entrepreneurs from the region of Tyros and with each other. The theoretical part of the workshop was complemented by practical exercises as well as an exhibition in which the participants presented their goods to a broad public and to each other for review.

Judicial Independence in Lebanon

On March 27 the Lebanese Forces Party in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and the Middle Eastern Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS) hosted a closed round table on the topic “Judicial Independence in Lebanon”. The round table was the final out of a series of workshops dedicated to work on practical and comprehensive policy proposals for Lebanon. The round table took place at the Mövenpick Hotel in Raouche and was organized under the auspices of HE MP George Edwan. Among the participants were - alongside with the ministers, policy makers, representatives of the Lebanese Forces, journalists and experts from the Lebanese judiciary, HE Minister Laurent Anselmi of Monaco - the Director of the Judical Services, and the Director of the Middle East and North Africa at Lexis Nexis, Guillaume Deroubaix.

Workshop “Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas”

In partnership with the Committee for Women and Youth at the Lebanese Parliament, the SMART Center and the Union of Municipalities in Tyre the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) launched the first workshop of a series of events entitled “Economic Empowerment of Women in Rural Areas” on March 13, 2019 in the city of Tyre, South Lebanon. By introducing 130 women entrepreneurs to a broader network of producers, consultants and supporters the event aimed on both expanding the capacity of their businesses in the fields of financial management, branding and marketing as well as on the practical advertisement of manufactured products presented on a fair connected to the event. The agenda of the workshop was based on the findings of a study on the needs of women entrepreneurs in small enterprises conducted SMART Center on behalf of KAS in February.

Unlocking the Economic and Financial value of Telecom Sector in Lebanon

On March 4 the Lebanese Forces Party in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and the Middle Eastern Institute for Research and Strategic Studies (MEIRSS) hosted a closed round table on the topic “Unlocking the Economic and Financial value of the Telecom Sector in Lebanon”. The round table was the third out of a series of workshops dedicated to work on practical policy proposals for the Lebanese economic and financial sector. The round table took place at the Hilton Metropolitan Hotel in Sin El Fil and was organized under the auspices of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Ghassan Hasbani. Among the guests were ministers, policy makers, representatives of the Lebanese Forces, journalists and experts from the telecommunication sector. The round table provided participants with in-depth-information on the sector and its current challenges and enabled both policy makers and leading experts to exchange views on this topic.

Economic perceptions amidst challenges

Survey conducted by Statistics Lebanon Ltd. for Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS)

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation commissioned a survey to Statistics Lebanon Ltd., in an effort to learn how Lebanese perceive the economic situation of their country and their personal economic well-being. The survey - the first of its kind - was taken over by Statistics Lebanon Ltd. from 04/12/2018 to 13/12/2018. The respondents were purposively selected to reflect all Lebanese socio-economic groups, and the survey was carried out across all Lebanese governorates.

Practical Solutions for Lebanon’s Power Sector

“Practical Solutions for Lebanon’s Power Sector” was the title of the second workshop out of a series of closed workshops organized by the Lebanese Forces Party in collaboration with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) on the economic and financial challenges in Lebanon. The second workshop took place on Wednesday 20, February 2019 at the Hilton Metropolitan Hotel under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister Ghassan Hasbani.
