Reports and ratings

Apart from providing a bi-annual report on the current media situation in a specific country, our site features a rating system. Each country’s media situation will be reviewed, analysed and rated according to the countries’ law, security, press, broadcasting and Internet environment.

As a rating system we use a traffic light scale, classifying each category with a green, yellow or red symbol: Green indicating a free, yellow a partly free and red a very restricted environment.

In addition to the colour scale a general trend will be given, indicating whether the media situation in a country is likely to improve, stagnate or aggravate.

News

You can also find a blog section on the website, which consists of articles and featured stories on Asia-Pacific’s latest developments on press freedom. Articles will be posted regularly, featured stories several times a month.

Media Directory

We offer an extensive database of the most prominent media outlets in Asia-Pacific: Print, online, TV and radio. Here you can find all contact details and addresses.

The APMU replaces the pre-existing Asia Media Directory.
