Development Cooperation for achieving the 2030 Agenda: The Way Forward

On May 23, 2018, at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung New York experts from the Network of Southern Think Tanks (NeST), the German Development Institute (GDI-DIE) and other international organizations met to discuss the challenges facing global development cooperation.

The dialogue featured various panels that explored crucial aspects of development cooperation, such as the rise of South-South Cooperation, the 2030 Agenda and the “One Belt One Road” initiative. The audience, comprised of knowledgeable experts in the field, engaged in lively discussions about different approaches to development cooperation.

Speakers as well as participants stressed the importance of bridging different national interests of developed and emerging countries and strategized how to better include the private sector. Another key concern that was brought up was how to optimize the interplay of Foreign Direct Investment and Developmental Aid. Finally, the workshop provided researchers and experts with an open space to exchange views and gather opinions on current issues to development and aid cooperation.
