Unarguably, the frequency of regional spill-overs of internal conflicts in West Africa and especially between Nigeria and her neighbouring countries highlights the close level of interconnectivity between countries. This interlink necessitates the need for region-wide approaches to conflict resolution and collaborative prosecution of cross-border criminals as peace and sustainable security can never be achieved in isolation.

The roundtable meeting aims at fostering cross-border collaboration among stakeholders in West Africa and Nigeria to develop strategies to effectively combat terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other forms of cross-border criminality. It would further promote cross fertilization of ideas, practice and interweave with existing platforms for cooperation between parliamentarians, security agencies and judicial officers from the respective participating countries.

The roundtable is one of the several interventions being provided by KAS to strengthen international ties towards enhancing coordination of cross-border security.

The roundtable is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
