Details

In the context of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS)’s international conference activities and in lieu of promoting female empowerment in political leadership, the Political Dialogue Asia (PDA) regional programme office based in Singapore has been organising activities for women in politics since 2011. Research shows that more women in parliament generally contribute to greater attention to women's issues and gender-sensitive governance reforms. Additionally it promotes greater inclusivity and women's direct engagement in public decision making, providing better accountability to women.

The main aims of this initiative has been to bridge the gap of women leadership in political decision-making by pursuing continuous dialogue with involved stakeholders and enrich on-going party and country specific take-aways at regional platforms. With the development of political themes identified by caucus members, the aim is to also promote inter-regional discourses between Asian and European counterparts.

This year, continuing the discussion on The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the caucus will be meeting to discuss "The World in 2030: Women, Development and Policy" through a mix-format of meetings. Kick-starting with a public panel at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the group will also be engaged in an alternative future based strategic foresight workshop at the UNDP Global Centre for Public Service Excellence where they will be looking at the future of human trafficking in the region, concluding with an expert panel discussion on Human Trafficking.

For more details, a full report will be presented post-event.
