The consequences on the global economy, not to talk about adaptation in business operations, are not fully understood.
Rising sea levels, floods and droughts, changing agricultural patterns – tremendous economic losses and migration of labor force will lead to unforeseeable consequences on human wellbeing, public health, labor performance and productivity.
Mitigation and adaptation measures might have positive impacts on local and regional economies and labor markets – but with huge sectoral differences. Shifting from carbon-based economies to renewable ones might create new source of value and increase demand of skilled labour in many countries in the world – but might lead to losses elsewhere.
Against this background, the Global Labor Organization (GLO) and FOM University of Applied Sciences Essen organize an international conference in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Foundation | Regional Project Energy Security and Climate Change Asia-Pacific to discuss these issues.
Participants are renowned researchers, politicians and entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Asia, Europe and the US.
