On 19th January 2017, Dr. Peter Hefele attended the fourth "Security Salon", organized by one of the leading national security think tanks in South Asia, the Institute of National Security Studies of Sri Lanka (INSSSL) at the Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka in Colombo and shared his views on climate change and energy security challenges facing South Asia.
The discussion was chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and attended by experts from diplomatic missions, state officials and high profile diplomats.
Another speaker, Dr. Nishchal N. Pandey, Director of the Centre of South Asian Studies (SCAS), Nepal talked about the experience of Nepal in post-disaster management in 2015.
