Im Rahmen des Kooperations- und Kontrollverfahrens vom 27. Januar 2016 hat die Europäische Kommission in ihrem Bericht an das Europäische Parlament und dem Rat Rumänien anhaltende Fortschritte bei der Bekämpfung der Korruption bescheinigt, die „Anzeichen von Nachhaltigkeit“ erkennen ließen.

The Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with the University of Tirana, Faculty of Law organized on March 5-6, 2015 in Tirana (Albania) the International Scientific Symposium dedicated to "Criminal Justice System and the Social Welfare". EU-Commission on the progress and regress of Bulgaria and Romania in the Justice sector

Annual Cooperation and Verification Mechanism

Since the EU accession of Bulgaria and Romania on 1.1.2007, the European Commission reports to the European Parliament and the Council at least annually with regard to the progress registered by both countries within the scope of the cooperation and verification mechanism. This mechanism was introduced 2006 by the Commission, due to the fact that, despite the progress reached in the consolidation of the rule of law, both countries still had deficits in this field. Solving these deficits ought to be both encouraged and verified. For this purpose, the countries had "Benchmarks" imposed.

The Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung launched in spring 2014 the online version of the "Commentary on the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina" translated in German. A number of legal experts from Bosnia and Herzegowina as well as from Germany and other european countries wrote contributions for this publication. The publication is designed to promote understanding of the complex and unique state structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Short political reports of the KAS offices abroad

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a political foundation. Our offices abroad are in charge of over 200 projects in more than 120 countries. The country reports offer current analyses, exclusive evaluations, background information and forecasts - provided by our international staff.

Press Review

On a monthly basis the Rule of Law Programme South East Europe publishes a press review collecting selected articles and reports from newspapers and news portals in English and German. Giving our readers an overview over the most important developments, we focus on news reports in the areas of democracy and the rule of law. The press review covers the following ten countries, where we also implement our activities: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania and Serbia.

Translation of Federal Constitutional Court decisions

In order to strengthen the institutional and judicial cooperation between Germany and the countries of South East Europe, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung considers translations of landmark decision of the Federal Constitutional Court as an important step in the realm of preserving fundamental rights and liberties, safeguarding the constitutional order and applying the rule of law. All decision so far translated can be accessed in several official languages of the countries of South East Europe (PDF file and EPUB).
