Youth Voices from the Gulf Region

New Ideas and Experiences

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Regional Programme Gulf States and the Gulf Research Center are hosting a side event at COP28 (UAE) on December 8, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Siemens Showcase Center, focusing on climate change engagement with youth from the Gulf region. This event is the outcome of a policy paper contest held by both organisations, with the top four papers chosen to present their ideas at COP28. The primary objectives are to amplify the voices of young individuals from the GCC nations on climate change, introduce innovative concepts to propose to their respective governments, and foster the creation of robust climate change networks among GCC youth.

Enhancing the Saudi-German Academic Exchange

In partnership with the Gulf Research Center, the Regional Programme Gulf States of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung will carry out a two-day workshop in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The workshop will bring together young researchers and practitioners from Germany and Saudi Arabia for two days of dialogue, exchange, and learning how to write policy papers about German-Saudi cooperation in the fields of energy, security, sports, and culture. KAS-REGIONALPROGRAMM GOLF-STAATEN VERANSTALTET WORKSHOP “FEMALES AS ENTREPRENEURS – HOW TO USE UNUSED POTENTIALS”

Der Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2009 hat gezeigt, dass die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate bei den Neugründungen von innovativen Unternehmen mit 38% im internationalen Vergleich gut abschneiden. Gleichzeitig beweist eine aktuelle Studie des Department for Economic Development Abu Dhabi, dass weibliche Unternehmerinnen mit 4% im Privatsektor nur unzureichend repräsentiert sind. Laut den Teilnehmern des Workshops sind drei Komponenten erforderlich, um junge emiratische Frauen in diesem Bereich besser zu fördern: Motivation, Bildung und die Möglichkeit die eigene Zukunft selbst zu bestimmen.

Verantwortliches unternehmerisches Handeln in den VAE

Das Regionalprogramm Golf-Staaten und die Academy for Responsible Management veranstalten regelmäßig in Abu Dhabi die CSR Network Evenings, um Unternehmern und gesellschaftliche Akteuren die Möglichkeit zu bieten, sich untereinander über die Rolle und Verantwortung von Unternehmen in der Gesellschaft auszutauschen.

KAS-REGIONAL-PROGRAM GULF-STATES HOLDS CONFERENCE ON ECONOMIC PO-LICIES IN ABU DHABI WITH EXPERTS FROM THREE CONTINENTS

Experts from more than a dozen Islamic and European countries followed the invi-tation of the Regional Program Gulf-States of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and gathered in Abu Dhabi for the conference „After the crisis – approaches for a value based economic policy” from Octo-ber 11th – 13th, 2010. Guest of Honor was Holger Haibach, Member of the Ger-man Parliament and Majority Speaker on Economic Development and Cooperation. The conference aims to identify possible approaches that can contribute signifi-cantly to avoiding future economic crises and to enhancing sustainable economic growth.

Dimensions of the German Reunification 20 years after

Under the patronage of the German, French and Polish Embassies, realized by the Paris Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, the Goethe-Institut Gulf-Region and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Regional Program Gulf-States are pleased to present you a series of events. The Regional Program Gulf-States of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung(KAS) and the National Media Council (NMC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation for a new training program for young journalists in the UAE. "We are very happy to cooperate with the NMC", said Thomas Birringer, Regional Representative of KAS in Abu Dhabi. "Journalists are an important and integral part of today's information based society. With our experience in media training and international cooperation KAS can make a valuable contribution to their training and assist in forming tomorrow's news elite".

United Arab Emirates a role model– KAS enhances relations between the Gulf and the EU

Christians in all Islamic countries should be given the right to practice their faith freely. During a lecture at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi on September 20th, 2010 the Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and former President of the European Parliament, Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, MEP, called for equal treatment of Christians and Muslims alike in their respective host-countries.

Das Königreich Bahrain ist ein Kleinstaat vor der Küste Saudi-Arabiens. Das Land ist aus zwei Gründen bemerkenswert: Es ist von Öl- und Gas-Exporten unabhängiger als jedes andere Land in der Golf-Region. Und Bahrain ist das einzige Land am Arabischen Golf mit einer schiitischen Bevölkerungsmehrheit. Diese wird allerdings von einer sunnitischen Herrschaftsschicht dominiert und regiert. Im Oktober sollen Parlamentswahlen in Bahrain stattfinden. Der Wahlkampf steht im Zeichen von Verhaftungen zahlreicher schiitischer Oppositioneller und teilweise gewaltsamen Ausschreitungen.
