Panel Discussion: “Caretaking: A New System of Government"
In cooperation with "Legal Agenda"
The aim of the panel is to discuss the study LA conducted in partnership with KAS in June 2022. The study evaluates and researches the legal obligations and rights of caretaker governments, as Lebanon frequently has caretaker governments and prime ministers in power. Additionally, we will share the Belgian experience in this context.

The forum will support the empowerment of female leaders in the legal field from Maghreb countries, for them to take on a leading role in civil society development by ensuring that they are aware of their rights and capable of advocating and realizing greater legal protection for women, including through cross-country and cross-disciplinary exchanges throughout the workshop.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted governmental, judicial, and administrative bodies around the globe to adopt measures that respond not only to local safety directives, but to a generalized need for greater flexibility and re-mote connectivity. The disruption of society as a result of the pandemic has naturally also affected justice systems around the world: sudden lockdowns of courts and delayed court hearings resulted in a growing backlog in the judiciary.
